What is my age?

In this context, age (noun) refers to the time someone has lived or the time something has existed. Age (noun) can also be referred to as a distinct period of history.
With that being said, you can manually calculate your age by subtracting your birth year from the year you wish to know your age in. It doesn't get any easier than that!
Definition of age

How many days old am I?

For the sake of this calculation, let's say a year is 365 days. If you are 27 years old in the current year, your age in days is calculated by multiplying 27 by 365. So, you are 9855 days old.

You can do this at any age, at any time. Let's try another example. Perhaps you have a sweet grandmother who is 85 years old. Her age in days would be 85 x 365, which results in her being 31025 days old.

How many months old am I?

This one is as simple as the previous calculation. Let's take the same example and convert 27 years to months. As we know, a year is 12 months, so we will multiply 27 by 12. The result is 324; therefore, you are 324 months old.

Why do we age?

Aging is the fact that all of us are familiar with. We witness ourselves and others age as the years go by. Perhaps your cousin is getting ready for high school, but it was only yesterday you were babysitting them.
Aging is an obvious fact that has more depth to it than we might think. To make it easier, let's divide aging into two categories:

1) Cellular aging

As the name indicates, this type of aging is related to how our cells age biologically due to intrinsic factors. Our cells divide, multiply, and perform tasks according to how they are programmed. As impressive as this is, the division causes the cells to get older over time. As cells get older, it gets harder to function, and they might fail at some tasks. All this causes the cell to become less healthy over time and finally to age.

2) Environmental aging

Environmental aging is due to extrinsic factors, which refer to how our lifestyle and surroundings can cause us to age. Examples are air pollution, tobacco smoke, body weight, malnutrition, UV rays, and alcohol consumption rates. As you see, some of these can be manipulated by us, and some others are inevitable. You decide to consume alcohol or not, but you don't have as much control over the air quality.

Industrial activities cause air pollution.
In conclusion, whether we like it or not, we are bound to age, but the quality is up to us to some extent. So, if you plan on aging gracefully, you might want to take a good look at your daily habits.
Keeping an active lifestyle is one way to age gracefully.
